I am working with iMX8MM EVK board. On checking the schematics of the board EXP_CN

Could you please clarify me what is the GPIO.0 , GPIO.1 ..... etc in the EXP_CN

It is just a pin name or it has any significance.

It is just the name for the PIN, it does not have any extra significant.
