Hi Team

We are currently working on the i.MX8QXP MEK platform and are trying to enable MP4 video playback (H.264) on our target running Yocto (NXP Nanbield BSP). We would like to know the following:

  1. Which multimedia/video formats and profiles are supported by default on the i.MX8QXP platform for video playback?

  2. What are the essential GStreamer plugins, codecs, and packages we need to include in the Yocto build to support playback of .mp4 videos (especially H.264 baseline/main/high profiles)?

  3. Are there any specific hardware-accelerated plugins (VPU) or Vivante GPU-related configurations we need to ensure are enabled?

Currently, we are using imx-image-full as our base image, but video playback is not working out of the box. Any guidance or official documentation on how to properly configure multimedia support (e.g., via gstreamer1.0-plugins-...) would be highly appreciated.

  1. Which multimedia/video formats and profiles are supported by default on the i.MX8QXP platform for video playback?

>refer to the reference manual:

Multi-Format Video Decoder (MFD): Supports H.265 HEVC Main Profile 4Kp30
Level 5.0, H.264 AVC, H.264 MVC, WMV9/VC-1, MPEG2 , MPEG4.2 ASP,
DIVX 3.11, RV10

  1. What are the essential GStreamer plugins, codecs, and packages we need to include in the Yocto build to support playback of .mp4 videos (especially H.264 baseline/main/high profiles)?

>current nxp official bsp already includes gstreamer to support it

  1. Are there any specific hardware-accelerated plugins (VPU) or Vivante GPU-related configurations we need to ensure are enabled?

>current bsp already enable VPU as decoder

if you use nxp MEK board, can try the demo images firstly, for playback, can try the command "gplay-1.0 xxxx.mp4" to playback mp4 file, more gstreamer command, pls refer to the linux user guide, for linux user guide and demo images, you can download from the link as below
