how to disable or remove the unwanted modules in kernel

I am using a customized IMX8M Plus board and have built the "IMXLXYOCTOUG v.LF6.6.3_1.0.0" BSP using Yocto.

For kernel customization, I need to remove or disable unwanted modules in the kernel.

I don't know how to disable or remove kernel modules. If anyone knows, please help me.

I know a little bit about disabling nodes in the DTS file, but I'm not sure if I can change the imx_v8_defconfig file. Will this help reduce the boot time or not?

I believe the AN14093 can helps to you in this request. Please refer to the chapter 8.2 Remove the unnecessary drivers and file systems.

Also, there is explained how to measure the boot time and how to do a lot of optimizations from Bootloader and kernel.
