create own machine

Hi.

I trying to create my own machine in Yocto, using SabreSD as reference.

Is there any good documentation I can follow?

I assume there needs to be an addition to the u-boot for my machine name (since I also want to modify the board file to fit my custom board etc.) plus also for the linux build?

Just the BSP layer standard tutorial by the Yocto Project. It covers machines an other BSP metadata.

I think your approach is fine: create a layer, copy a machine there, then start changing certain variables.
