Transient in IMX6SL USB causes USB to Fail

Hello,

We are using the demo board for the IMX6SL. As a reference for our own board. All the diodes and suppressors are the same.

When we perform a Electrical Fast Transient on the USB cable (feeding into USB_OTG1) the USB port stops performing. The USB controller refuses to hand shake.

Both DP and DN of the USB controller is routed to a: SRV05-4 RailClamp® Low-Capacitance TVS Diode Array | Semtech.

The processor still works, all other ports work fine. The only issue is no hand shaking with the host over USB.

Has anyone run into this problem? Any help would be appreciated.

Hi jparrish88

one can try to analyze errors using

sect.65.4.3.15.1.1 Transaction Error IMX6DQRM

and try to reset (or even reinitialize) USB controller.

Another way - try to add more shielding to design and use

more quality and short usb cable. Also one can try to limit speed

to USB Full or even Low.

Best regards

igor
