Dear NXP Community,
I am reaching out for advice on improving video encoding quality using the i.MX8M Plus. I am currently working with a customized environment based on the Linux kernel version L5.15.32_2.0.0, employing IMXVPUAPI for encoding tasks.
The issue I am encountering is the poor quality of video encoding when using the i.MX8M Plus. Even when compared with the i.MX6 at the same target bitrate, the video quality appears to be inferior on the i.MX8M Plus. The attached graph shows the size of the encoded data. Blue represents i.MX8M Plus, and orange represents i.MX6.

I have the following specific questions:
- Could you provide any advice on how to adjust the size balance between I-frames and P-frames?
- Are there any other parameters for quality adjustment that you would recommend, including recommended settings or points of adjustment?
I appreciate any insights you can provide on this matter.
Thank you in advance for your assistance.
Best regards,
IMX8MPLUS
