Hey guys,

I'm looking develop an E-ink device that can run Android 4.x.

Which SABRE platform would you recommend, the I.MX507, I.MX508, I.MX6 DualLite or I.MX6 SoloLite?

Also, can anyone tell me the difference between the SABRE, and SABRE Lite platforms?

Thanks a lot,

Ali

I suggest you to base your design on the i.MX6SL processor http://www.freescale.com/webapp/sps/site/prod_summary.jsp?code=i.MX6SL&tid=vanIMX6SL#prettyPhoto

This processor, has EPDC included which will ease up the implementation of an e-Ink display.

There is an evaluation Kit based on this processor that will be of great help:

http://www.freescale.com/webapp/sps/site/prod_summary.jsp?code=IMX6SLEVK&parentCode=i.MX6SL&fpsp=1&n...

You will find the Android Source Code and Demo image in the Downloads Tabs.

You can purchase both, the board and the e-ink panel under Buy/Specification.

SabreLite is a 3rd party's board, based on the i.MX6Quad (no epdc included).

Sabre-SDP can be based on i.MX6 Quad or Dual Lite, none of them have EPDC.

Carlos, thank you for the thorough and informative response!

A couple more questions: Would I be able to swap out the SoloLite on the Evaluation kit (EVK) for a DualLite and retain the EPD support?

Does the 'IMXEBOOKDC3-E' include both the EVK and the e-ink screen, or just the screen?

Thanks,

Ali
