Hello,
Generally both i.MX 7ULP VIU and i.MX7D CSI provide similar functionality.
Differences are as following:
1) i.MX7 CSI max pixel frequency is 148.5 MHz,
i.MX 7ULP VIU max pix frequency is 66.7 MHz;
2) i.MX7 CSI supports 2D DMA, i.MX 7ULP VIU - does not;
3) i.MX7 CSI provides statistic data generation for Auto Exposure (AE)
and Auto White Balance (AWB) control of the camera, i.MX 7ULP
VIU - does not;
4) i.MX 7ULP VIU support YUV <-> RGB conversion, i.MX7 requires PXP
for it.
Note, i.MX 7ULP does not have PXP.
Have a great day,
Yuri
