Minicom Package - Not Installed

I built a new kernel with LTIB and selected the minicom and lszrz packages. Build completed and I can confirm that the Mincom package was built. Problem is now that I have booted into the kernel, I get the following message:

The program 'minicom' is currently not installed.  You can install it by typing: apt-get install minicom

Obviously I can install from the command line as they suggested, but why isn't it already there? Is there another step I have missed?

No my target rootfs is the Freescale Ubuntu version 4.0.0. I do not want to copy the LTIB rootfs. I guess I will try the second option. Do I need to do the same thing for any other packages I decide to include?

Oh I see. I think you better use apt-get system to install stuff on Ubuntu. Copying binaries from LTIB rootfs  to Ubuntu is not safe and apps may not work.

There is nothing. I noticed that in my built rootfs directory there is a /usr/bin/minicom file. Do I need to copy this to my target media as well as the uImage?

so, your ltib/rootfs is not the same as the target rootfs. You can either flash your SD with the ltib's rootfs or try just copying minicom bin into target. This last option works if all run-time libraries are already installed on your target.

Try to do a global find minicom ('find / | grep minicom') and see if that path where it resides is in your PATH environment variable.
