Hello!

I'd like to make a cheap custom board with Android os, based on IMX6 DUAL processor. Is it possible to boot processor from eMMC 5.0 memory? I don't understand why a many solutions use eMMC, not NAND. Is eMMC cheaper or maybe faster?

Hello Artem Dmitriev,

Yes, it is possible to boot from a eMMC 5.0, but it will run as 4.41 in terms of features so you won’t be able to use the features unique to eMMC 5.0. You can see information on how to do this on the following Community document.

There are pros and cons to using NAND or eMMC and the best option for your design may depend on cost, speed, storage capacity etc.

I hope this information helps!
