Linux image flashing problem on 8MQ EVK

Hi,

I am currently trying to flash a Linux image on the i.MX 8MQ EVK. have downloaded the new Linux 6.1.1 image from https://www.nxp.com/webapp/Download?colCode=L6.1.1_1.0.0_MX8MQ&appType=license. I am using uuu.exe (version 1.5.21 from https://github.com/nxp-imx/mfgtools/releases) on a PC running Windows 11 to flash the image.

I have set the boot mode switches as per the guide - SW802 to 01 (serial downloader) and SW801 to 0010 (eMMC) and made all the connections as per the getting started guide.

When I run the "uuu -b emmc_all imx-boot-imx8mqevk-sd.bin-flash_evk imx-image-full-imx8mqevk.wic" command - the command prompt shows the following -

Command prompt logCommand prompt log

The operation finishes very quickly, which is suspect given the large size of the .wic file.

The log shown on the serial console gives some error. The log is attached.

When I put the EVK back in normal boot mode (SW802 to 10), it does not boot - no output on the serial console.

Can someone help me understand what I am doing wrong? Is there any steps that I am missing?

Thanks,

Romit

Hi @Dhruvit ,

Thanks for the suggestion. We tried it, but same error occurs (see screenshots). We have not tried booting from an SD card yet. How do you suggest we flash the SD card?

Thanks!

Thanks @Dhruvit , I'll try it out and let you know.

Is there any way to reset the board? Just in case something has gotten corrupted?

Best regards,

Romit

Hi @rnmkr,

I hope you are doing well.

One can reset the board using push-button SW1702 (SYS_nRST) on EVK.

Hi @rnmkr,

I hope you are doing well.

Please try using the below command.

uuu.exe uuu.auto

Please make sure that the USB Type-C cable is connected properly and boot mode is correctly selected

Does the board boot from an SD card?

Thanks & Regards,
