Issues Loading Android 13 Kernel on Toradex Apalis-iMX8 Board with iMX8QM

Hi NXP team,

I'm using the Toradex Apalis-iMX8 board with the iMX8QM integrated. My U-Boot is successfully loading, but I'm having trouble loading the kernel. Here are the issues I'm facing with different configurations:

Using gki_defconfig: The board shows "Starting Kernel..." and continues with further logs. However, the HDMI display does not work. Occasionally, the "android" logo appears, but then the system crashes. These crashes are inconsistent and can occur at any point.

Using imx_v8_android_defconfig: The board gets stuck at "Starting Kernel..." and does not proceed further.

I have attached the Uboot and kernel's final .config and DTB files, and some log files for your reference. Could someone please help me understand what might be causing these issues and suggest possible solutions?

Please help us with this. Your support will be really helpful in this matter.

Attachment Details: Kernel and uboot folders have their final respective .config and device tree files. The Logs folder has 3 Logs:

  • 1_gki_defconfig_log1: These are normal crash logs. The "android" logo was not seen in these logs. (GKI defconfig is used)
  • 2_gki_defconfig_logs2: There are logs where the "android" logo has come once or twice and then after some time it crashes. (GKI defconfig is used)
  • 3_imx_v8_android_defconfig_log3: These are logs where we have used imx_v8_android_defconfig. The board is tucked at "Starting Kernel ...".

Please let me know if case of any confusion. Thanks for your time!

Regards,
Rikin

Hello,

I would suggest to please contact Toradex support on this, they may be able to further help you on this since it is their BSP that you should be using.

Best regards/Saludos,
Aldo.
