Hi All,

I want to know the different types of update in Android. Currently, working on Android 9 + IMX8QM

Will you please provide the documents or details for following updates,

1. Full Update

2. Partial Update

3. Secure update

4. Differential Update

5. Android update

6. Seamless Update

If it possible please provide the steps to achieve above. Thanks in advance.

Hi @vinothkumars

  • OTA updates can be:
    • full = seamless (system, boot, dtbo,...)
    • Incremental – using binary patches applied to data on the device, not whole binaries

We don't have the documents you mentioned. The documentation of our Android BSP could be download from here.

For your reference, there is a porting guide in the Linux BSP web page. You could also read it for porting reference.
