Hello Raj,

Were you able to make it work?, I assume your problem is only when using the script but not mfg tools, is that correct?

Have you  used mfg tool to try?

and the partition layout in Android is differenct now.

In Android 6.0, the system partition is about 800M.

In Android 6.0, the system.img need simg2img to convert.

If you didn't use mfg tool, did you use the "simg2img" to convert the image?

Hi BiyongSUN,

I'm actually wondering why the documentation says 800MB whereas the source code sets it to 600MB? (see device/fsl/imx6/BoardConfigCommon.mk line 84). Also the commit says it changes the sparse image size but BOARD_SYSTEMIMAGE_PARTITION_SIZE changes the raw image size, not the sparse one.

Finally, the flashing script provided in the device folder (device/fsl/common/tools/fsl-sdcard-partition.sh) as well as the script provided in the MFG tool still sets the system partition to 512MB which seems very unlikely to work.

Please clarify.

Gary

Here is the souce code of Android 6.0

android-m6.0.1-1.0.0-ga/device/fsl/imx6/BoardConfigCommon.mk

78 # comment out for 1g/3g space split

79 # TARGET_KERNEL_2G := true

80

81 BOARD_BOOTIMAGE_PARTITION_SIZE := 16777216

82 BOARD_RECOVERYIMAGE_PARTITION_SIZE := 16777216

83

84 BOARD_SYSTEMIMAGE_PARTITION_SIZE := 629145600

85 BOARD_CACHEIMAGE_PARTITION_SIZE := 444596224

86 BOARD_FLASH_BLOCK_SIZE := 4096

87 TARGET_RECOVERY_UI_LIB := librecovery_ui_imx

88

89 # Freescale multimedia parser related prop setting

If you have checked the mksdcard-android.sh in android_m6.0.1_1.0.0_ga_tool\Profiles\Linux\OS Firmware\mksdcard-android.sh.tar

you will see SYSTEM_ROM_SIZE=800.

So far, in the Android 6.0, the system.img is about 526M.

after using simg2img, it is about 629M.

That is mininal size needed, so leave more space set the patition to 800M.

Hi,

Sorry I must have downloaded the wrong MFG tool package, re-downloaded this one today and it is indeed 800MB.

IMX6_M6.0.1_1.0.0_MFG_TOOL

However the script in the source code is wrong, please update it for next release (device/fsl/common/tools/fsl-sdcard-partition.sh).

Gary

Gray,

800M can hold the 629M system image, what is the problem here.

Even you can make it 2G size for system partition to hold the 629M system image.

800M is partition size. We don't know what to corrct next release.

We use the mfg tool to flash the sabresd baord.

No any problem.

We don't know how to help you.

Hi,

As I said in my last post, the MFG Tool is fine.

But the script you provide under /device/fsl/ does *not* match the one in MFG tool and sets the partition to 512MB. It is not big deal, we can modify it manually but it might make sense to update it for next release.

Gary
