How to source code debug M4 running on i.MX 8M Mini EVK ?

I understand MCUXpresso IDE does not work for debugging M4 on this board.

Can anyone suggest alternatives to bare metal source code debugging on M4?

• I understand Linux must be installed on A cores in order to boot M4. 
• This is fine as we want to RPMSG M4 data to Linux. 

For this first phase, the challenge is M4 debugging.

 yes, imx8mm doesn't support MCUXpresso IDE, but you can use IAR or GCC compiler
