How to Android Root Access DART-MX8M-MINI Developers Kit? Is it even possible?

Hi,

I am trying to run an app that detects serial ports on DART-MX8M-MINI Developers Kit, which seems like it requires root permission. The device is running Android 9. 

I've been researching for days, but it seems like I cannot find instructions for rooting devices of this sort. 

Does anyone know how I can properly root in this case?

Hello,

Have you tried using userdebug build option when building your android image?

Since this provides an image with root access and debug.
