To whom it may concern,

I have the requirement of encoding a video (1080p30) using H.264 and then live stream the encoded video via Ethernet. I’m considering the i.MX 6 or the i.MX 8 for my application and I have the following questions:

  • Can the i.MX 8 and the i.MX 6 encode an interlaced video using H.264?
  • Would you please recommend an evaluation kit that is equipped with a PAL video decoder connected to the i.MX 8 or the i.MX 6 processor.
  • Would you please recommend an evaluation kit that is equipped with an SDI receiver chip (such as a Semtech SDI receiver) connected to the i.MX 8 or the i.MX 6 processor. I think that the i.MX 6 can interface to Semtech SDI receivers via the CSI interface?

Hi @Fuad,

I hope you are doing well.

i.MX8 & i.MX6 series does have VPU for H.264 encoding.

GStreamer 1.0 plugins for the same are also available.
