Is it possible to disable the GPU on a i.MX6DL without display with Android 6.0.1/Linux 4.1.15 to save battery power?

As far as I can see, in the document provided with this link is only described how to enable MXC Vivante GPU support.
It is not clear for me how to disable the GPU.
