Debugging connection with IMXRT1062 and JLink

Hi,

This is a small rant on the quality of the debugging when using a JLink, MCUXpresso 11.3 and a custom IMXRT1062 board. The JLink is connected to the board over SWD (3V3, GND, SWCLK and SWDIO). The code is running from ITC memory and the debugger/IDE behaviour makes me pull my hair out. Stepping over instructions times out and disconnects the debugger (with a communication error) every few minutes. The underlying JLink software is 7.88 if that helps.

I'm wondering if there are other people having similar issues and if so, what debugger / IDE are you using with better success. I'd venture and guess it's the debugger that's at fault, but curious to hear other people's experiences.

Thank you,

Alex

Hi @odd_bikes ,

This should related to the IDE.

I suggest you try the newest MCUXPresso IDE and the new JLINK version.

  The MCUXPresso IDE download link:

https://www.nxp.com/design/software/development-software/mcuxpresso-software-and-tools-/mcuxpresso-i...

  Please try it at first.

If you still have issues, kindly let me know, I will help you do the detail checking.

As I know, the old IDE version with JLINK also makes me pull my hair out, haha!

Best Regards,

kerry
