Android "tablet"

Hello,

I want to make my own "android tablet", so I can place it on a vehicle.

Is there any platform that I can start with?

What do you suggest?

Regarding the display I need it to have 5 to 10" (pref size 7" and 10"), where can I find cheap displays with touchscreen?
