All About System Controller Firmware [ SCFW ]

I'm working on i.MX 8M Mini EVK Board, i have some Questions regarding SCFW Porting Kit.

1]  What is need of SCFW  [ System Controller Firmware ]  ??

2]  What is name of SCFW's binary file [ .bin ] that we need to flash ??

3]  How to flash SCFW binary file into SD Card  ??

4]  Difference between SCFW and Secure Firmware  ??

Hi nikhil29

SCFW [System Controller Firmware] is not used for i.MX 8M Mini.

It is used for i.MX8QM, i.MX8QXP processors which have SCU (System Controller Unit)

module. SCFW is some abstraction concept, short description can be found on

Unfortunately I am not aware of  description of "Secure Firmware", probably this is some general term.

In particular some "firmware" files are described in  i.MX Linux Release Notes
