Queries about KW-45s Demo Application

I am using KW-45 BLE EVK with NCJ29D6 for their SPI communication demo application (kw45b41zevk_digital_key_device_freertos). In which the KW-45  being SPI Host sending Get_FW_Version UCI command to NCJ29D6 and NCJ29D6 is sending response to this command. my question is "Can i send other UCI commands like Set_app_configuration, Start_Ranging / Stop_Ranging etc from KW045 to NCJ29D6 without making any changes in NCJ29D6's Testware Application? And if this is possible then can i do it with another pair of KW-45 and NCJ29D6 make Two NCJ29D6 have UWB Ranging making one as an initiator and another one as a responder." 

If this is not possible, please help me with some suggestions regarding the same.
