Modular gateway node discovery

Hi!

I am currently developing an application where i need to know the ip addresses of the nodes on a thread mesh network. I have tried several ways:

   get routing and child tables - it was quite slow

   send multicast mgmtdiagnosticget messages - from python wrapper i had segmentation fault

  I would be interested in how the volansys demo application gets the nodes ip addresses. Has anyone information about it?

Hi Tibor,

In the Volansys demo application, when an end node joins the thread network and receives ULA address from border router, the end node sends a predefined end node information message to the border router on pre-defined UDP server. For more information, please refer the OOB software architecture document and the gateway source code.
