Programming without license

Greetings,

I have developed a firmware for a CF-V2 on the CW7.2 platform and intend to develop a second one.

But on this second one, it was requested that the support team need to be able to re-program the devices on field if a FW update is required.

Since my code exceeds Freescale's free license limitation, I have bought a floating license to use here in the company.

But on the field that will not be a possibility.

It seems my only option is to provide the support team with a Cyclone MAX stand alone programmer, but that means $900 per support team, which is a LOT.

Isn't there any other option for me? What about CW10? Does it have a higher size limitation than CW7.2 for the CF-V2 family?

Thank you

Hi

CFFlasher is a good option together with P&E BDM. It will not disturb any other programs.

The uTasker project includes boot loaders for the CF V2 parts - USB, serial and Ethernet, depending on what the parts has, included encrypted loading support for working with chips with protected FLASH settings. See www.uTasker.com

Regards

Mark

Thanks scifi...

How safe is it to install CF Flasher?

Can it affect my current CW7.2 functionality?

To be honest, I don't know. In theory, it shouldn't. Obviously, if you try to use the BDM adapter simultaneously with CW and CF Flasher, some kind of conflict may occur.

Can you change the device to program itself from Ethernet, USB or a serial port?

Hi Tom,

Making it program it self will be quite tricky... although it's definetly a goal for the near future.

Do you know if there is code size limitation in CW10 for programming on the free license?

Size limit for the Special Edition of CW v10 for MCUs, in regard to ColdFire V2 programs, is 128KB.
