Hi!
We currently have 2 floating licenses for Codewarrior 5.2 (HC12).
I would like to know if there is any mecanism that allow to reserve a floating license for some hours or a few days.
The purpose is to be able to use Cowarrior out of the network.
With some other compiler environment it is possible for example to get a token, and then unplug the computer from the network. The license remains active for the reserved period of time.
Of course during this period of time the license is no longer available for the other users.
Thanks,
Michel
Hello Michel
For borrowing, you need:
+ a floating license/license server
+ the license file needs to have the BORROW keyword
+ you need to follow a strict process for borrowing (see attached manual) FlexLM End user's guide, page 102 – 105.
And also FlexLm License Management, page 14 – 15:http://cache.nxp.com/files/soft_dev_tools/doc/user_guide/CW_FLEXlm_License_Management_UG.pdf
http://cache.nxp.com/files/soft_dev_tools/doc/user_guide/CW_FLEXlm_License_Management_UG.pdf
And this thread should be helpful to you:
trying to use the borrow function but it never takes a license
I suggest to use USB dongles instead, this is easier and much user friendly.

Hello Fiona,
Thank you for the fast and complete answer.
Reading the FlexLM End User’s guide, it is specified that if we want to borrow a floating license the license.dat has to contain the keyword “BORROW”.
Our license.dat does not contain such a feature. Can we add it manually?
Regards,
Michel

Hello Michel
Yes, our license team can manually update the license file. I would suggest summiting a case. It's better under Case process for private license details.

And I also sent you a temporary license for CW5.2 by email, you can use it on any PC.
