Codewarrior 7.1 license timeout

Hi,

I have a floating license for cw7.  Until recently I had the license server running on the same machine that cw7 is on.  I moved the license server over to a different machine on the same network but now half the time when I try to open cw7 or start a debug session it says it can't contact the license server.  I'm thinking the license server is taking a little too long to respond?  Is there a way to specifiy a timeout?  That same computer is serving up a license for cw10 which seem to work fine.

thanks

Thanks a lot for details.

To resume the situation, the floating license is managing CW for Coldfire V7.2 and CW for MCU V10.x.

The MCU v10.x is running fine without problem.

In some case (50%) you get an error when V7.2 is used.

The first error:

"Couldn't find the application to launch to start the debug session"

I found 3 entries with this issue in our data base.

I don't find interesting info on them.

This error was associated to a license issue too.

According to the info you get the error:

     Cannot connect to license server.

The server (lmgrd) has not been started yet, or the

wrong port@host or license file is being used, or the

TCP/IP port or host name in the license file has been changed.

I don't think the problem is linked to a timeout.

It seems in some case the client can not establish right connection to the server.

how are you using the license on client side ?

do you use the LM_LICENSE_FILE env variable?

Please can you provide us the floating license file used ?

If you want we can switch to a Service Request.

Hi Carl,

So you're using Win 7 as a server.

Under this PC you're managing license for CW V10.x and old Coldfire dev tool.

the 2 licenses file must be merged in 1 file only.

The file must be shared with server and clients.

Timeout.

I've never saw a floating license server linked to a timeout issue.

Is it the message showed by the client ?

On the server side, a log file should capture all licenses accesses and problems.

Can you check this file ?

The PC using CW for V10.x and PC using Coldfire V7.x, are they the same PC ?

Regards

Pascal

Windows 7 is what I'm running Codewarrior on.  Windows XP is the license server.  The two licenses are combined into one file on the server and client.

Here's a sample of the license server log:

13:12:22 (lmgrd) -----------------------------------------------

13:12:22 (lmgrd)   Please Note:

13:12:22 (lmgrd)

13:12:22 (lmgrd)   This log is intended for debug purposes only.

13:12:22 (lmgrd)   There are many details in licensing policies

13:12:22 (lmgrd)   that are not reported in the information logged

13:12:22 (lmgrd)   here, so if you use this log file for any kind

13:12:22 (lmgrd)   of usage reporting you will generally produce

13:12:22 (lmgrd)   incorrect results.

Thanks a lot for details.

To resume the situation, the floating license is managing CW for Coldfire V7.2 and CW for MCU V10.x.

I found 3 entries with this issue in our data base.
