Hi. FXLS8471 is in EOL status. It lent us an excellent service with nice performance for my application.
It is a difficult time to search for a replacement. I understand that.
Are there any updates of possible replacement of FXLS8471Q ?
What I need is an 14bit (may be 12bit with very low noise), +/-2g @ < 100 Hz, in full production status. One year has gone since EOL notification and we still can not find a replacement or similar part from NXP brand.
Any comments or plans will be appreciated. Thank you!

Hi Adelon,
I apologize, that the FXLS8962 is not available anymore. It supposed to be available. It seems its sold out earlier than we thought. But has 12-bit resolution, so it wouldn't help you anyway.
Unfortunately currently we do not have a 14-bit 3-axis accelerometer, in Active stage of life in our portfolio, but I have checked the distributor pages and Mouser has 108 of MMA8491QR1 (End Of Life) in stock and another 20 000 can be ordered.

Also Arrow has 7 pieces of MMA8491QR1 in stock. Perhaps they will have more pieces to order.

I hope it will help you and I apologize for inconvenience.

Hi Adelon,
the discontinuation of the FXLS8471. The replacement is FXLS8462 which will be later replaced with pin and software compatible FXLS8964/67/74 family of accelerometers.

Josef: I don't think it is neither exact nor fair to mark this answer as a solution to this situation.
Recommended parts in your answer are obsolete (FXLS8962 is non stocked, last time buy listed) and/or non stocked anywhere and all of them have less resolution than the 14 bits FXLS8471.
Please tell me if I am missing something that could lead an NXP faithful follower to a solution, among NXP portfolio.

Thank you for your answer.
In our case, as we need a +/-2g span, we should study oversampling MMA8491Q (14 bits, +/-8 g, 1 mg/LSB) to 16 bits in order to obtain 0,24 mg/LSB and see: a) what happens with signal to noise ratio in our specific application; b) how about those 20.000 pieces and their lead time until NXP issues a new 14 bit+, +/-2g, in full production.
Any way I think MMA8491Q might surely result in an acceptable provisional replacement for many FXLS8471 users
Regards!
Hi Adelon,
a) what happens with signal to noise ratio in our specific application;
[A] The signal to noise ratio will be about four times worse, than the FXLS8471 14 bit+, +/-2g accelerometer you have used before. I presume you will use only +/-2g from the +/-8g span and the resolution is for the full +/-8g span. Unfortunately in the MMA8491Q maximum g span cannot be changed. I apologize for inconvenience and that we cannot offer you a better solution.
b) how about those 20.000 pieces and their lead time until NXP issues a new 14 bit+, +/-2g, in full production.
[A] The Chiron with 14-bit resolution is only planned, but is not approved yet. Currently we don't know if the Chiron or any other accelerometer will have +/-2g span and when there will be a new 14 bit+, +/-2g, in full production. I apologize for inconvenience.

Jozef
Thank you Jozef for your answer.
I have studied those alternatives you suggested. However I can not find any of them to be purchasable or with a certain delivery lead time.
Can you please help with some commercial part number of those "Chiron-NPI" line of 14 bit accelerometers?
Hi Adelon,
it is unfortunate situation right now. Although we have replacements for the discontinued parts, the factories are not able to product enough chips to cover the demand. I apologize for inconvenience.
Regarding the Chiron accelerometer, you need to contact your local NXP Authorized distributor directly (https://www.nxp.com/support/sample-buy/distributor-network:DISTRIBUTORS).
