S32K312 Standby Current Consumption

Currently I am testing with the S32K312EVB-Q172.
The datasheet shows that the standby current consumption of S32K312 is about 50uA based on VDD 5V.
However, when measuring the current consumption of MCU VDD with EVB, it comes out to about 350uA. (based on VDD 5V)
When VDD is 3V, it measures about 80uA.
Can you tell me why EVB's standby current consumption is different from DataSheet?

Yes, a typo, I just edited it, sorry for that.

Let me check.

The project tested is attached.

Hello @kjy106906,

Where do you measure the consumption?

Did you removed R303 and R349 and do you measure if at J10, J15?

Hello @danielmartynek

Thanks for the reply
My question is about the S32K312EVB-Q172.
There seems to be no J15 here.

I removed R303 and measured the current at J10.

What is the standby current consumption of your board?

You are right, only J10 (VDD_HV_A_MCU) on S32K312.

I don't have the board right now to test it.

But anyway, it depends on what is running on that MCU.

Table 14 specifies the power consumption at certain conditions specified in Table 20.

Also, it does not include any external load on the pins.

Please use the S32K Power Estimation Tool to estimate the consumption.

https://www.nxp.com/products/processors-and-microcontrollers/s32-automotive-platform/s32k-general-pu...

For example, if FIRC is enabled in the Standby mode, the power consumption increases to 887uA.

Thank you for the reply @danielmartynek
I don't use FIRC in Standby mode.
And MCU VDD consumption current is also strange at 350uA.
Can you measure the STANDBY mode current consumption of the S32K144?
(Or ask another team)

Hi @kjy106906,

I got the S32K312 EVB and tested it with a similar result.

Let me look into it.

Hello @kjy106906,

I could not lower the consumption on the S32K312 EVB.

So I asked a colleague of mine to test same code on this EVB and another NXP internal board that I don't have.

On the S32K312 EVB, HV_A = 5V, current at J10 = ~350uA.

On the internal board, HV_A = 5V, HV_A current = 42.56uA.

Not sure what is the root cause here, but it seems to be an issue of the EVB not the MCU.

You should get lower consumption when testing on your custom board.

Regards,

Daniel

Thank you very much for your cooperation @danielmartynek

Can you tell the difference between EVB and Internal Board?
Please check if there is any difference depending on the lot.

Hello @kjy106906,

There no differences between lots.

The MCUs tested on all the boards: P32K312NHVPBS 0P09C

Have you tested the example I attached here?

Thank you @danielmartynek

Current consumption is normally reduced with your code.
I will check the difference between my code and yours.

Thank you very much. @danielmartynek
Is the S32K142 EVB a typo?
I also come out high current on custom boards.
I wonder if it's a problem with the MCU lot.
Can you share the top making of another NXP internal board?

@kjy106906,

What current do you measure on the custom board?

Is is ~350uA too?

Thanks,

Daniel

@kjy106906, would it be possible that you shared a schematic of your custom board?

You can share it privately via a ticket with reference to this thread.

Thank you,

Daniel

Hello @danielmartynek ,

Can you please provide code of S32k312 wakeup method using SBC FS26 using Long duration timer(LDT).
