S32 DS for S32 Platform 3.3 - real-time variable update

Hi,

I'm using S32 DS for S32 Platform 3.3 for my S32K144W MCU. The debugger I'm using is p&e micro multilink.

I was wondering if there is a way to update variables in real-time while the MCU is still running. It seems like I can only update variables after when I hit the break. So the procedure is like 'break - change variable - resume'. I want to find out if I can do this in real-time without haulting the MCU. (or maybe if this is something already available by default, please give me some guidance)

Any comment/guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your reply. I've tried as the link you provided explains, but 'Real Time Expressions' does not allow me to change variables in real-time when MCU is still running. It did allow me to monitor the variables in real-time, but I was not able to change it. Double-clicking the variables did not work.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think I read a post talking about the real time expressions doesn't work on certain MCUs. Is this feature MCU-dependent maybe? Judging by the link you gave me, I think this feature works on other MCUs. I just want to know if this feature is available for S32K144W. Please help.

Hi @unknownpirate,

I'm not sure if it is unsupported for S32K144W, since this is a PEMicro plugin, it would suit better to ask them directly. You can also try the FreeMASTER tool to read or write memory on the target, it does require a bit more setup, but editing the variables is possible:
