Dear NXP Team,

We are currently evaluating NFC/RFID integration using S32K144 and S32K344 MCUs for a product requiring authentication, anti-theft, and asset tracking via NFC tags.

Requirements:

  • NFC reader module/IC supporting MIFARE Classic 1K, NTAG213, or similar tags
  • Communication interface: I2C or SPI, compatible with S32K1 and S32K3 series
  • Automotive-grade operating conditions
  • Ready-made module or reference design with antenna

Specific Queries:

  1. Which NXP NFC reader IC or module is best suited for our use case?

    • PN532 (marked as NRND)

    • PN7150 / PN7160

    • CLRC663 Plus

    • Any newer or recommended alternative?

  2. Is there any hardware reference design, application note, or antenna design guide available?

  3. Can you provide:

    • Example code for integrating NFC reader with S32K144/S32K344 (MCUXpresso or S32DS)

    • Low-level drivers or middleware stack for PN71xx or CLRC663

    • Guidelines for integrating external antenna for card/tag detection

  4. How to communicate with the NFC reader using S32K144/S32K344 MCUs?

  5. What are the recommended NFC tag types (MIFARE / NTAG) for reliable usage in industrial/automotive environments?

We are preparing to finalize the NFC solution and need your support on choosing the right hardware and software integration path.

Looking forward to your guidance and reference resources.

Best regards,
Pandiyan T.

I would suggest CLRC663 plus family | Low-Power NFC Frontends | NXP Semiconductors

You could find all the useful documents and reference design (EVK and design files) from the CLRC663 Plus product web page.
