FRDM-A-S32K344: LPI2C Master Example Project Using Onboard I2C Devices

Hello Community,

I am working with the FRDM-A-S32K344 (S32K344MINI-EVB) board using:

• S32DS 3.5.8
• RTD 4.0.0 (R21-11)

I successfully imported and built the I2c_Ip_Example_S32K344_Q172 project and reviewed the existing configuration.

After reviewing the board user manual, I noticed that the default LPI2C bus is connected to several onboard I²C devices, including the FXLS8964 accelerometer, P3T1750 temperature sensor.

I would like to evaluate LPI2C in Master mode and communicate with one of the onboard slave devices (preferably the FXLS8964 or P3T1750).

Could you please provide:

1. Recommended configuration for LPI2C Master mode.
2. Any available example project for FRDM-A-S32K344.
3. Guidance on reading data from the onboard sensors using the I2c_Ip driver.

Any example project, application note, or reference implementation would be greatly appreciated.

You can find a lot of demo from "Import Project from Application Code Hub"

However, it should be noted that the RTD version used in these demos is the latest one.

I reviewed the Application Code Hub example "Motion and Temperature Sensing using LPI2C and GPIO on FRDM-A-S32K344 with MCAL Drivers" and started following the implementation steps.

However, I noticed that my S32 Design Studio v3.5.8 does not show the "Import Project from Application Code Hub" option in the Dashboard after opening the workspace, while it is available in the screenshot you shared. 

Could this be because my S32DS version is older?

If so, is there an alternative way to import or download the Application Code Hub example projects when using S32DS v3.5.8?

If yes, could you please provide the steps to import the project manually in S32DS v3.5.8?

The version of S32 DS you are using is too old; you should install the latest version, as older versions do not include the "Code Hub" option.

Since I am currently using S32 DS v3.5 and already have the I2c_Ip_Example_S32K344_Q172 project imported from the RTD examples (I2C Slave mode working successfully), I am considering the following approach:

• Download the Application Code Hub example "Motion and Temperature Sensing using LPI2C and GPIO on FRDM-A-S32K344 with MCAL Drivers" manually.
• Reuse the application source files (such as accelerometer_sensor, motion_detector, temperature_sensor files, and the application code).
• Integrate them into my existing RTD example project and adapt the configuration as required.
  

Does this sound like a reasonable approach for S32DS v3.5.8?

Or would you recommend a different migration path considering the RTD version differences between the Application Code Hub example and my current environment?

I suggest installing S32 DS V3.6.x and RTD 7.0.1.

If you still wish to use RTD 4.0.0, you can refer to the example projects for S32 DS V3.6.x or simply

use the latest version of RTD to develop your application.
