Debugging Issue when trying to flash the code in the S32K144 EVAL board.

Hii ,

  I am using s32k144 eval board in that I am using PE-micro debugger (Open SDA FD906E5B) .when i am trying to debug/flash my code in the board and i am facing this issue. Could anybody let me know what is the issue and what mistake did i made.

How do you repeatedly power on and off the MCU?

Hi

Seems that you are configure Dio of MCAL. 

Please make sure follow the "Under UnTouchedPortPin, click ‘+’ and add the following 5 PortPin Pcr numbers: 4, 5, 10, 68, 69" of HOWTO: Create a Blinking LED example project using S32K1xx RTD with AUTOSAR

These are debug pins.

If you haven't set them correctly, the debugger connection will be lost when the program reaches this point.

If this happens, try recovering using Kinetis_Recovery_Utility.zip.

I am also facing a similar debug/flash issue on my S32K144 EVB board.
Can you please explain:

1. How to install the Kinetis Recovery Utility tool — download link, installation steps, required version, etc.

2. How to use the tool to recover the S32K144 EVB board — step-by-step instructions for recovery.

3. Any specific settings or precautions to follow when using the Recovery Utility (e.g., BDM/USB settings, jumper settings, power cycle requirements, etc.).

4. Whether using this tool is safe (will it erase flash / configuration?).

I would really appreciate detailed steps, as I am currently blocked and unable to proceed with debugging/flashing.

Cause:
Incorrect Port Driver configuration (especially wrong or missing Untouched Pins selection) can disable the debug interface and prevent flashing.

Steps to Recovery:

1. Set J107 to pins 1–2 and connect the 12 V power supply.

2. Open the tool and select OpenSDA USB.

3. Hold RESET, click Start, then release RESET.

4. When prompted, power cycle the 12 V supply (unplug and plug back in).

5. On success, proceed to flash the board normally.

Thank you very much for your detailed explanation and clear recovery steps.

I followed the Kinetis Recovery Utility procedure exactly as you described:

• Set J107 to pins 1–2 and connected 12 V supply

• Selected OpenSDA USB

• Held RESET, clicked Start, then released RESET

• Power-cycled the board when prompted

The recovery was successful, and after that I was able to flash and debug the S32K144 EVB normally.
The issue is now fully resolved.

Your explanation about incorrect Port Driver / Untouched Pins configuration disabling the debug interface was very helpful and pointed me in the right direction.

The thing is I am not configuring the dio but i am running an dio example project and when i am running it i am getting the debugger error that i have mentioned earlier
