Hi
I am fairly new to Freescale's line up and would like to know which microcontroller would be ideal for someone newer to freescale. I need to just monitor inputs from sensors to give me oil fluid readings, etc and store them for a short time.
I have looked at a few and came across the Freescale MC56F8323MFBE. It is in the digital signal controller line up. Would any one know of a good general purpose microcontroller? It should have at least 15 General purpose I/O pins which can output and tolerate 5V.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Hi,
There are many general purpose MCUs family. Within 16-bit space, a good one is MC9S12XEP100 for example, or MC9S12G device family:
S12G:Family 16-bit MCU
S12XE|16-Bit Automotive Microcontroller|Freescale
Also, there is a new 16-bit MCU line with improved CPU core (S12Z) so called MagniV. Here are two MCUs for motor apps, S12VR and S12ZVM.
S12VR:S12 MagniV Mixed-Signal MCU for Relay Driven Motor Applications
S12 MagniV Mixed-Signal MCU for BLDC and DC M|Freescale
Note that a digital signal controller (DSC) is a specialized processor containing a single core capable of performing both microcontroller and digital signal processor functions.
