Hi. I need to implement synchronous rectification in my 150W push pull converter secondary side. I have choosen TEA2096 for that. The secondary side has two diodes as shown in the figure and I am planning to replace them with mosfets that will be driven through a single IC chip. What are the challenges I might face while trying to implement that? output is 5V and output current demand is around 20Amps. And finally, Can I achieve >90% efficiency in the converter with that?
Hello Paul
Please check the link below
https://www.nxp.com/docs/en/data-sheet/TEA2096T.pdf
Here you can find useful information such as the description of operation with the use of MOSFET with the TEA2096
I recommend reading chapters 8 to 13, these chapters have functional description, images, limit values, etc.
Have a great day and best of luck
Hi RafaR,
Thanks for the input. Is there any spice model of the IC? Can you share me the link? I want to run my model in LTSPICE.
Hello Paul
Sorry, we do not have a spice model to simulate the TEA2096, we only have the CAD model.
Have a great day and best of luck
Hi RafaR,
Sorry to hear about that. Can you please atleast confirm that if this IC be utilized for push-pull application. or can you suggest some similiar IC specifically designed for push-pull application?
Hi Paul
I do not have a document to confirm the application or recommendations of TEA2096 as push-pull but in my opinion do it, I believe it will work, hope it helped you.
Have a great day and best of luck
