Hi Team,

I am trying to figure out whether SC16IS741AIPWJ can be used for the IrDA baud rate of 115200. in the data sheet all i could find out is the table which does not mention about 115200 baud.

Could you clarify whether 115200 baud rate is supported by this device with prescaler and divisor set to 1 with the 1.8432 MHz clock ?

Hi Rajesh,

I think your assumption is totally correct and such baud rate should be supported by both ICs.

Hi Rajesh,

On SC16IS760 IrDA baud rate is supported. Please see the AN10417 about NXP IrDA rates supported by the SC16IS760.

Thanks for you suggestion.

As per the below formula for the divisor in the data sheet, is it possible to get the internal baud rate clock output (16x Desired Baud rate i.e 16*115200 = 1.8432 MHz) from the XTAL1 input clock  (1.8432MHz) as it is by setting the prescaler logic as 1 (by setting MCR[7] =0)  ?

if the mentioned logic  is possible , then we can use either SC16IS741AIPWJ or SC16IS760 ? Could you confirm whether my inference is correct ?
