What exactly does the Transceive State Machine mean? Let me unpack this a little.

I'm wondering if the data exchange is done according to the Transceive State Machine to read the information such as UID, ATQA, SAK of a 14443A type card.
Is the Transceive State Machin card used in wake up and select stages? Or is the board used to exchange upper-level layer commands (APDU) after it reaches the "protocol state" (after sending a RATS command)?

I realized that it is not necessary to configure the "TRANSCEIVE_CONTROL register" to activate the card. However, I saw that various adjustments were made in the "Transceive State Machine" diagram regarding the register in question. In the face of this situation, I come to the following conclusion (if I am wrong, please correct me and I ask you to share what you know about this subject)

After an activated card becomes "protocol state" with the RATS command, the next communication should be continued according to the "Transceive State Machine" flow. Thus, APDU commands can be transmitted (C-APDU) and received (R-APDU) according to the Transceive State Machine diagram.
