Evaluating TSN RDB

Hello all,

I am new to NXP community and landed here to evaluate a TSN board for an upcoming TSN based switch project. I have seen three boards with TSN capability here (Not sure if I had missed any)

  1. Layerscape LS1028A Reference Design Board
  2. SJA1110 100Base-T1 Multi-Gig Ethernet Switch Example Board
  3. LS1021A-TSN-RD

Of course all three are of different capabilities, and with varying price points. IS there any document comparing the capabilities of these three so that I can make an informed choice?

Also there are two operating systems for the devices:

  1. Real-time Edge Software
  2. Layerscape Software Development Kit User Guide

Again how are these two different and what are the basis for choosing one over the other?

One more question, in the documents I can see a reference to felix. Is this related to the reference boards above?

LS1028A has two models provided, If I buy LS1028A Reference Design Board which one will I be getting? ENETC or Felix Switch?

Thanks!

LS1021ATSN board is the early product, it includes a regular LS1021A SoC and an external L2 switch (SJA1105TEL) with TSN features. LS1021A processor is just used to configure SJA1105TEL.

Probably You could consider new TSN silicon LS1028A, it consists a new TSN-enabled Ethernet controller with endpoint-specific features, as well as a new on-chip TSN switch.

For LS1021ATSN, you could use NXP released Real-time Edge Software.

For LS1028ARDB, you could use NXP released LSDK or Real-time Edge Software.

Both LSDK and Real-time Edge Software are free for customers.

Flex Ethernet and switch drivers are related with LS1028A processor.

Thanks @yipingwang for your kind answer.

If I choose  LS1021ATSN over LS1028ARDB, given the price difference, what am I missing? If there is some documentation comparing these two solutions, I will be happy to read  them. This is just for my due diligence and if there is a sufficiently strong engineering reason for my use case to use LS1028ARDB I will certainly use it.

PS: I am assuming these are the two TSN switch RDB available with NXP. Please let me know if there are other solutions I should be looking at.

Thanks
