I need some basic understanding of how a network processor works what are key aspects to know the configurations that should be done from the software perspective.

Basically I am working with LS1046A processor but I was unable to understand the whole process what is happening internally from sending data through Ethernet PHY and also similarly receiving data(I have followed LS1046ARM reference manual but unable to understand). So can I get any basic information of how process is done or any shareable documents?
