operating distance

Hello I am looking for a quick answer please

I am using CLRC663 NFC reader, I have designed the matching circuit of my Antenna with 23 Ohm target impedance, however the operating distance is not as required, it is 2 cm using NTAG216 and 0.5 cm using the MIFARE DESFIRE EV1 Tag.

 The diameter of my round antenna is  2cm

- I would like to ask why the operating distance different when using the MIFARE card, and it is better with NTAG.

- Is it possible to improve the result? and how?
