We are planning to start a pilot project on the use of RFID in our office, We want to to place the tags on the laptops so that whenever an engineer with laptop  exits a room the reader should detect.

Could you please suggest a possible RFID  evaluation board /reader with possible tags that can be used.

Regards,

Karthik

HI @KaiLi ,

We have almost decided to purchase the PEGODA reader.

WE have few questions regarding the same. It will be great if you can clarify the same

(1) The datasheet mentions it can support ISO/IEC 14443, ISO/IEC 15693 ( which is about 3 feet) . Can you please let me know whether this is the maximum sensing range. Or is it possible to increase the sensing distance ?.

(2) How many tags can be programmed by the reader.

(3) The datasheet mentions that of we order MFEV730, we get - MIFARE cards and NFC tags of NTAG, and ICODE.

Can you share the part nos of the tags or links or other details if you have

Thanking you

Regards,

Karthik

hello @Karthik2014

Ans: The size of the antenna also has an impact on the sensing distance, the card and the label are different, it is recommended that you refer to the corresponding antenna design.

(2) How many tags can be programmed by the reader.
Ans: With the exception of UCODE, all NXP labels and cards can be read and written with this reader.

(3) The datasheet mentions that of we order MFEV730, we get - MIFARE cards and NFC tags of NTAG, and ICODE.

Can you share the part nos of the tags or links or other details if you have
Ans: There are MIFARE DESFIRE EV3/EV2, MIFARE PLUS EV2,ICODE SLIX2, NTAG 213 and NTAG424 DNA in it

HI @KaiLi
Thank you very much for your support and replies.
I am not able to find the antenna design or its gain in any document.
Even the video does not explicitly state that it meets ISO distances.

(1)In Section 7.1, there is a specification 0 to 75 mm from the centre of the antenna for NFC mode of working. There is no such section for UHF or HF and ISO range ?

(2)Could you please advice/ confirm whether this supports distances of upto 3ft as per ISO standards( mentioned in the datasheet).

(3) Is there a way of using this smart card reader with a bigger antenna to achieve higher range?

Regards,

Karthik

Based on your requirements, we recommend the following tag and reader:

1) ICODE

ICODE® | NXP Semiconductors

2) CLRD730

PEGODA Contactless Smart Card Reader | NXP Semiconductors

3) Debugging Tool: RFID Discover that is security tool, need sign an NDA with NXP.
