NFC Reader for LEGIC Advant UID/Serial Number

I am currently developing a little showcase, where the UID/serial number of LEGIC Advant cards (CTC) shall be read by a NFC reader. In the current setup I have an ESP32 using an MFRC522 chip. Unfortunately this reader doesn't recognize LEGIC cards at all, only MIFARE cards.

Based on the product specification "Supports ISO/IEC 14443 A/MIFARE and NTAG", I assumed it would be possible, as the LEGIC card is also a Supports ISO/IEC 14443 A card.

Does anyone know the reason why it's not possible to read the UID/serial number of these cards? And if it's the chip, which chip would be able to read it?

Thank you very much!

Thanks for your reply! The cards are encoded with some LEGIC Segments, therefore there is some data stored on it.
But the cards are rather new, so no old legacy cards... new LEGIC CTC cards, which are based on NXP MIFARE DESFire cards as I understood.

Hello,

By any chance, as you mention that the cards have some pre-stored data, is the information coming directly from the manufacturer or is it coming from another source? Did you perform the writing on the cards?

The data is stored on the card by myself. But independent of what is on the card, I only want to read the serial number. Not sure how this relates to each other?

Hello,

The question was more related as there are some cards that have some proprietary commands. The mFRC522 , should be capable of reading the UUID of the card or other tags that are compliant.

Nonetheless, if there are some limitations from the manufacturer of the card (usually the ones with sensitive information or high security features) there can be some limitations. I would recommend you to check with your manufacturer to verify if there are some specific commands that need t be set or some limitations

Hello,

Could you please help me confirm, are the cards that you are using brand new , or are those already with some information that you stored there?
