Increase HTRC110 Tag reading

I have successfully read HITAG S tags and read pages and blocks but it only works when the tag is on top of the coil and not at a distance > 1cm. I can see the tag affects the field at a greater distance but when I look at Dout on the HTRC110 it hasnt demodulated it. I am pretty sure the electrical side is correct as i copied a product that works. is there something that I need to tune in the config page that might help

I cannot assure you is the antenna design of the Reader is the optimal since the design was based on a different device. For a successful antenna design and tunning, I have to recommend to please take a look at our HTRC110 documentation:

I have gone throught the application notes and double checked my circuit is right and it is. I even tried slightly changing some of the resistor values but nothing changed. I can see on a scope the tag is sending data at a distance of about 5cm above and is visible at Rx but then when I scope Dout nothing is demodulated

Hello sir, I understand.

Still, I will have to ask you to check the antenna Tunning using a Vector Analyzer. Unfortunately we don't have a specific document to perform this procedure in the HTRC, please take a look at our NFC devices. The procedure should be very similar. Please keep in mind that you will need to sweep the frequency around 125kHz.

We are assuming you don't have any power-related issues since reading tags is successful but, it is worth to also check this for discarding a possible issue.
