CLRC663+ MIFARE Classic Authentication issue

We have a custom board with CLRC663+ that we use for reading and writing of both MIFARE Classic transponders and MIFARE DESFire EV1 / EV2 transponders.

We have run into an issue with making a MIFARE Classic authentication where the key is 6 x FF (Default key) - The authentication process times out.

Authenticating with non default keys works and the following read or write is successfull.

MIFARE DESFire Auth, Read, Write etc. works too.

Could we be facing a power delivery issue between antenna and card/tag ?

Best Regards

Dear Kan Li

Thank you for quick reply.

Our current implementation is not based on the NFC reader library as I found it to be to convoluted, so I have rewritten the interface for the CLRC663+.

We are using the CLRC663+ in to different products, but with the same code for interfacing to the CLRC663+. The one product is working fine (5V power supply) and the other product is having the MIFARE Classic Auth issue (3v3 power supply).

Regards

Søren

Hi @sb2 ,

Thanks for the clarification! If the same code can work with TVDD=5V but failed at TVDD=3.3V, it is most likely related with the antenna design, what is the target impedance of your antenna design, maybe you have to tune it to a lower value, please also note CLRC663 plus allows an impedance of < 20Ω with the limit of ITVDD = 350 mA.

Hope that helps,

Have a great day,
Kan

Hi @sb2 ,

Is your application based on NFC reader library? If yes, have you ever tried the demo of "NfcrdlibEx4_MIFAREClassic_mcux" with your Mifare Classic cards? Is the problem still there? Please kindly clarify.

Have a great day,
Kan
