Compatibility of NXP_Support_Package_S32K3 v1.8.0 with BMS Add-On v1.2.0

I checked the MATLAB Add-On Manager and noticed that the latest version of the NXP_Support_Package_S32K3 is 1.8.0. However, the NXP_Support_Package_BMS (version 1.2.0) is compatible with NXP_Support_Package_S32K3 version 1.4.0.

Do you recommend upgrading the NXP_Support_Package_S32K3 to the latest version? If so, is the NXP_Support_Package_BMS add-on compatible with it?

Example ModelsRe: Compatibility of NXP_Support_Package_S32K3 v1.8.0 with BMS Add-On v1.2.0

Hello,

To be able to develop BMS application, you have the following toolboxes:

  1. MBD for S32K3 v1.4.0 (found on NXP website).
  2. NXP_Support_Package_S32K3 v1.8.1 (found on MATLAB Add-on explorer).
  3. MBD for BMS v1.2.0 (found on NXP website).
  4. NXP_Support_Package_BMS v1.2.0 (found on MATLAB Add-on explorer).

The MBD for S32K3 v1.4.0 contains:

  • S32K3 RTD drivers
  • S32 Configuration Tools
  • S32K3 peripherals blocks (ADC, DIO, PWM etc).
  • Examples

The MBD for BMS v1.2.0 contains:

  • BMS SDK
  • BMS specific blocks.
  • Examples

As you can see, these two contain all the necessary files to develop your BMS application.

The NXP_Support_Package_S32K3 v1.8.1 do not include any necessary files to build and deploy a BMS application. Its sole purpose is to help you to install any version of the available for the MBD Toolbox for S32K3 (from v1.0.0 up to v1.8.0).

Similarly, the NXP_Support_Package_BMS_V1.2.0 do not include any neccessary files to build and deploy a BMS application. It sole purpose is to help you install MBD Toolbox for BMS v1.2.0.

After the MBD Toolbox for S32K3 V1.4.0 and MBD Toolbox for BMS v1.2.0 are installed, the NXP_Support_Package_S32K3 v1.8.1  and  NXP_Support_Package_BMS_V1.2.0 can be uninstalled, as they are not required anymore.

Based on the information available to me, my understanding is that BMS Add-On v1.2.0 is only compatible with NXP Support Package S32K3 v1.4.

The MBD Toolbox for BMS v1.2.0 is only compatible with the NXP_Support_Package_BMS_V1.2.0.

The NXP_Support_Package_S32K3 v1.8.1 can't install the MBD Toolbox for BMS v1.2.0.

Re: Compatibility of NXP_Support_Package_S32K3 v1.8.0 with BMS Add-On v1.2.0

Dear Sorin,

Thank you for your reply.

I have already run the BMS using NXP Support Package S32K3 v1.4 with BMS Add-On v1.2.0.

However, my question regarding the compatibility of NXP Support Package S32K3 v1.8 with BMS Add-On v1.2.0 remains unanswered.

Based on the information available to me, my understanding is that BMS Add-On v1.2.0 is only compatible with NXP Support Package S32K3 v1.4.

If so, are there any plans to update the BMS Add-On to support version v1.8 in the future?

Best regards,
Rasoul

Re: Compatibility of NXP_Support_Package_S32K3 v1.8.0 with BMS Add-On v1.2.0

Hello,

In order to use the Model Based Design Toolbox for BMS 1.2.0, you must install the Model Based Design Toolbox for S32K3 1.4.0. These toolboxes include the RTD/SDK drivers, tools used in development (gcc, S32 Config Tools) and examples.  These can be downloaded from this page: Model-Based Design Toolbox (MBDT)

On the other hand, in the MATLAB Add-on Explorer, you are going to find the NXP_Support_Package_S32K3. This toolbox is solely used to help the user to install the Model Based Design Toolbox for S32K3. The Support Package can be used to install all S32K3 toolbox versions (including 1.4.0, required by the MBD Toolbox for BMS). It does not contain RTD/SDK driver, tools or examples.

Note! Each support package we deliver is able to install the toolbox just for one specific platform. For the MBD Toolbox for BMS, you need to install NXP_Support_Package_BMS.

To sum up, in order to use the Model Based Design Toolbox for BMS you need to do the following:
1. Install NXP_Support_Package_S32K3.

2. Run the GettingStarted.mlx and install the Model Based Design Toolbox for S32K3 v1.4.0.

3. Install NXP_Support_Package_BMS

4. Run NXP_Support_Package_BMS.m script and follow the steps in the installer.

5. Open the patches folder inside the BMS toolbox and extract the achieve 'NXP_MBDToolbox_S32K3xx_1.4.3_patch.zip'. I recommend you extract the achieve using the File Explorer in MATLAB, as Windows might hit some limitations regarding long paths.

6. Run NXP_MBDToolbox_S32K3xx_patch.m script located in the extracted folder.
