Good evening,
In the UM11802 is stated that the RDGD3162I3PH5EVB is compatible both with IGBT and SiC power modules. In UM11802, figure 9, is shown the pinout a SiC power module shoud have to be compatible with the evaluation board.
I'm facing this problem: I can't find a SiC power module that has that same pinout: for example, the FS03MR12A6MA1B (SiC) has a similar pinout to the FS950R08A6P2B (IGBT), but even ignoring the first source pin S2.2, the G2 and S2.1 pins are in an inverted order compared to the corrisponding E2 and G2 pins shown in the IGBT power module. Also G1, S1 (SiC) have a 1 position offset compared to the G1 and E1 pins for the IGBT.
Is there a commercially available part number for a SiC power module that is directly compatible with the RDGD3162I3PH5EVB?
Thanks,
Enrico
Hello,
We have seen the RDGD3162I3PH5EVB's exact module pinout get phased out by module suppliers, particularly for SiC. Some years ago there were more options with this footprint, but this pinout/package is slowly EOLed by now.
Today we see more kelvin connections like you pointed out, and some HybridPack Gen2 from IFX (like the FS03MR12A7MA2B) and Starpower.
We prefer to use production modules for our new EVBs but we can't guarantee what the module suppliers will do in future after we design the board.
Are you already set on GD3162? Are you needing a fully-done PCB for prototyping or will you design your own PCB eventually? Let us know their constraints and project details and we can think of a solution.
Regards!
Thank you for your answer.
Could you point me out a specific part number for a compatible SiC module, even if it's not in production anymore?
Yes, I'm already set on the GD3162.
Thank you,
Enrico
