1) How can we reduce the UCODE G2iM+ read range? I’m asking this because there are no serial communication lines available to connect to the MCU, so I don’t know how we can control the read range.
2) I have attached the pinouts and connections of UCODE G2iM+. How is this read and written? Is it through the RFID connection?
3) Can you please explain integrated tag tamper alarm, digital switch, external supply mode, data transfer mode, and real read range reduction modes? The reason is that I would like to see how I can utilize those features in my product.
4) Please see the attached picture. The self-powered RFID transponder connection. Please let me know if this connection will result in 2V to 5V Vout from RFID energy harvesting.
5) In a self-power RFID transponder, what is the voltage range at the OUT?
6) In an external-power RFID transponder, what is the voltage range at the OUT?
hi kaili,
Your answer is very brief for my questions. Can you please answer my questions one by one?
Hello @pragashsangaran
UCODE G2iM+ is a fully RF-based passive/assisted RFID IC, and all communication is handled via EPC Gen2 air interface without any serial connection. The read range cannot be controlled via MCU, but can be reduced using the built-in Real Read Range Reduction (4R) feature or antenna design. External supply improves sensitivity, while output voltage levels are limited to low-voltage digital levels (~1.5V) rather than power harvesting outputs.
What is the range of OUT voltage for both self-powered and external power transponder configurations?
Hello @pragashsangaran
please see the comments on your questions:
1) How can we reduce the UCODE G2iM+ read range? I’m asking this because there are no serial communication lines available to connect to the MCU, so I don’t know how we can control the read range.
The UCODE G2iM+ itself supports a read range reduction function, which is controlled through the tag's internal ConfigWord and can be configured via the WRITE command of a standard UHF reader, specifically the Read Range Reduction bit, which is bit 11 in the ConfigWord.
2) I have attached the pinouts and connections of UCODE G2iM+. How is this read and written? Is it through the RFID connection?
Reading and writing data via a UHF reader.
3) Can you please explain integrated tag tamper alarm, digital switch, external supply mode, data transfer mode, and real read range reduction modes? The reason is that I would like to see how I can utilize those features in my product.

5) In a self-power RFID transponder, what is the voltage range at the OUT?
6) In an external-power RFID transponder, what is the voltage range at the OUT?
The OUT pin is a low-power, multi-functional output interface primarily used for digital switching, data transmission, and tamper detection. Its output voltage range is approximately 0V (low) to approximately 1.5V (high), and its maximum output current capability is approximately ±0.5mA (recommended to be well below this). This pin is not suitable for use as a standard GPIO; it is better suited for driving high-impedance inputs or as a control signal interface.
