Hello Team,
Im currently working on a CAN gateway with 12 CANs TJA1043 IC is been used.
I have measured a Current at Vbat pin of TJA1043.
But as per the datasheet the maximum Ibat current is 70uA( is this the maximum current throughout the vbat range from 4.5V to 40V)?
Kindly comment on the TJA1043 Vbat current consumption
Hello Pavithra,
For TJA1043, the datasheet does not specify a guaranteed maximum IBAT across voltage and temperature. This device belongs to an older CAN transceiver generation where battery current was typically characterized with typical values only, not worst‑case limits.
For comparison, the next-generation TJA1443 explicitly specifies IBAT:
- IBAT (Normal or Listen-only mode): up to 300µA max
- Valid across VBAT = 4.5V to 28V and high junction temperature
This is further confirmed in our AH2002 (Secure file under NDA), which states “IBAT of 300µA at VBAT for the transceiver (worst case, 175°C junction)”.

Hello TomasVaverka,
Thanks for the feedback.
I have query here, even in TJA1043 Ibat max mentioned as 70uA with a Vbat condition 4.5V to 40V. As it mentions even the temperature and voltage range.
Then this 70uA should hold good even at 32V right? Or do you see difference in opinion.
Thanks
