Hello,
I am investigating potential options for adding wireless connectivity to an existing device. I came across several of your combination devices (specifically the IW416 and the IW612). Regarding the IW612, I see from the datasheet that it supports 802.11z for direct connecting with another device already connected to the same network. I would like to know if the IW612 is also capable of supporting true WiFi Direct (without a router or other AP involved).

Is this the same thing? If this is the same thing, can the IW612 do this concurrently with a "normal" WiFi connection (similar to the IW416)?

Could you please share your application details? Are you interested on using the wireless connectivity module with Linux or an RTOS?
In either scenario, please check on the Wi-Fi Radio Release Notes for Linux and/or the Wi-Fi Radio Release Notes for FreeRTOS, both contain all of the supported Wi-Fi Direct (P2P) features for our connectivity SoCs.
Please let me know if the information is useful and if you have more doubts.

It's still too early in the project to say with any certainty, but I would guess this would most likely end up being an RTOS running on one of the i.MXRT MCUs, which in turn would connect to the existing device.
I will check the links you provided and see if what I'm looking for is in there. If yes, I'll come back and mark as resolved. If not, I'll post a follow up.
