The initial silicon revision for the LPC55S6x family was 0A and this silicon has been used on the Revision A1 LPCXpresso55S69 evaluation board. Revision 1B silicon has been used on the Revision A2 evaluation board. Both revisions of silicon support a new more stable debug session request method that is required for the 1B silicon. If the correct version of the IDE and / or debug probe driver is not used, debugging operations will be affected or not work.
When using a board with revsion A2 chip, the current software version required is:
MCUXpresso IDE version 11.0.1 or later (version 11.1 or later is recommended)
[ Note: It is also possible to use IDE 11.0.1 , but this version requires a patch when using the A1 release. See https://community.nxp.com/migration-blogpost/11165 ]
Please note that if you switch from developing with revision A1 to revision A2 (or switching to any target system using revision 1B silicon), you will need to start with a new workspace .
IAR Embedded Workbench version 8.40.2 or higher
Keil uVISION LPC55S6x Device Package ( DFP ) 12.0.1 or later
SEGGER J-Link
J-link 6.54c or later should be used ( downloaded from the SEGGER website ), V6.64 or later is recommended. When using J-link with a non- SEGGER IDE ( MCUXpresso , IAR , Keil ), make sure your IDE is configured to point to the latest J-Link drivers.
If you use MCUXpresso IDE 11.0.1 , you need to update the J-link driver installed to the latest version to support version A1 . For more information, see How to Update the SEGGER J-LINK Installation Package on Windows .
