Random occurences of timeouts while reading variables

Hello, I have been working on a battery test rig set up by my predecessors on the project.
The test rig uses an nxp S32K144EVB board connected via usb to a computer.

The code is built from a simulink file and monitoring of the test is made via FreeMASTER 3.2.

The project has been working on a laptop for a few months and it has been necessary to configure a new laptop as a replacement. However, even while installing the same FreeMASTER version, the same drivers and using the same project files, all variable reads as "?" due to timeout errors after a seemingly random duration.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I don't think I encounter that problem yet but I have a few suggestions, maybe they can help:

• Try to power up the S32K144EVB from a 12V power supply instead from the USB. Getting Started with the S32K144EVB 
• Try different methods to connect the FreeMASTER project to the EVB:
  • Use the onboard USB connector
  • External Serial2USB convertor
  • Use a debug probe to connect directly to the S32K144 MCU
• Try to reduce the refresh time for non critical variables
• Prevent the laptop to enter sleep mode (as it might cut USB power to save battery).
• Try to create a new FreeMASTER project from scratch.
